We have been commanded by God’s word to show respect and honor to our mothers. This is to be not only one day of the year, but every day of the year. God gave to us our mothers, to teach and guide us and to help us learn the principles of a healthy and productive life. My mother taught me three very clear, Biblical principles that have influenced me greatly. They are faith, love, and perseverance. These principles have had a great influence on making me the man I am today. We honor God when we honor the moms in our lives. May we respect them and recognize them for the gift they are in our lives.

4/29/12 – Gifts of the Spirit – part 3

So far, we have considered the first 6 gifts of the Spirit mentioned by the apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 12:1-12. In today’s message, we are going to consider the last 3 mentioned. They are the gifts of discerning the spirits, the gift of tongues, and the interpretation of tongues. All nine of the gifts listed in this passage are for the edification of us personally, as well as the uplifting and edifying of the church body. May each of us go after the gifts of the Holy Spirit. May we allow ourselves to be used in these gifts as God chooses. It is our privilege, as believers, to discover them and use them for God’s glory.

The gifts listed in the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Corinthians and our belief in these wonderful gifts is what makes us stand out as Pentecostals. We must have clear understanding and proper appreciation for them so that they are not abused and misused. In our last message related to this topic, we considered the first 3 gifts, which are the gift of wisdom, the gift of knowledge, and the gift of faith. In this message, we will consider the next 3 gifts, which are the gifts of healing, miraculous powers, and prophecy.

National Day of Prayer 2012

The National Day of Prayer is Thursday, May 3rd.

The sanctuary will be open from 9:00am–4:00pm for anyone who would like to come pray.

We encourage everyone to fast for all or part of the day for our nation, upcoming election, our state and local officials, our church, etc.

God has blessed us with a beautiful church, let’s bless Him by working together to make it a spectacular, spotless, and clean place of worship!

We need helpers of all ages!

Bring along some cleaning supplies, if you can. (Paper towels, rags, small vacuums, and any other supplies you think might be useful.)

Coffee, juice, & donuts will be here… you come, too!

4/15/12 – Gifts of the Spirit – part 1

The Apostle Paul wrote in the book of 1 Corinthians instructions regarding the proper use of spiritual gifts. Many in the church had confused and misused these wonderful blessings given by God’s Holy Spirit. His purpose in his writings was to clarify and end the improper use of the gifts and to bring a better understanding of their purpose and value to the church. There are 9 specific gifts he addresses in his writings found in chapter 12 of 1 Corinthians. In this message and the next couple to follow, we will consider one by one the great value and reason for the giving of these gifts to the body of Christ. Today, just as back in Paul’s day, there are many who misunderstand and misuse these gifts. It is vital that each of us understand and appreciate theses wonderful gifts in the way we should as followers of Jesus Christ.

4/8/12 – A Day of Victory

Easter Sunday is a day of great significance to the believer. The reason for that is because the very core of Christianity is found in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. If there were no resurrection, there would be no Christianity. Christ had to die and rise again so that we might live forever. His sacrifice conquered sin and death for all who place their belief in Him. The resurrection gives us hope for this life and the life to come.
