8/28/11 – The life and times of Moses :Part 3 “It’s a boy!”
The birth of a child is such an exciting time for everyone involved. What an amazing miracle to see a new life come into the world right before your very eyes. Most of the time when a baby is born, it’s a time of celebration and joy, but there are situations when babies are born at in-opportune times and under sad circumstances. Moses’ birth fell into that category. In many respects, Moses was born at the absolutely worst possible times in the Hebrew children’s history. He was born a Jewish citizen in a land ruled by an anti-Semitic pharaoh who wished all Jews to be disposed of. Baby Moses entered a world of cruelty, pain, slavery, and despair. In the midst of this, Moses’ parents saw that there was something special about their son and that he had a Godly destiny for his life. Out of their deep reverence for God and His commandments, they chose to protect their newborn son from harm as long as they could. After three months, he could be hidden no longer and a plan was devised by his mother. This plan was one given to her by God. She placed her child in a tar-covered basket and set in into the Nile, where Pharaoh’s daughter would bathe each day. Moses’ mother hoped and prayed that the young woman would take pity on her son and keep him safe from harm. The plan went better than planned and Moses became the adopted son of the princess. This was the beginning of a journey for Moses that would one day lead him to be the one who would set his people free from the rule of the Egyptians. The principles found in this story and in these events clearly show to us the importance of being Godly parents who obediently and faithfully protect and lead our kids down the path God has for them. It also reveals to us that problems can often be turned to blessings when we allow God to intervene in the midst of them.

8/14/11 – The life and times of Moses :Part 2
God’s timing and plan are always best. May we be patient and be found faithful in following His purpose and plan for our lives. Many times this does not follow our understanding or our agenda, but God sees the whole picture of our lives and He is writing our story each and every day. In all appearances, the Israelites looked as though they would be destroyed by the Pharaoh and his taskmasters. The opposite actually occurred and the more they persecuted the Hebrew children, the more God blessed them. The Pharaoh tried his best to stop the plan of God, but due to the convictions and faith of Moses and the Israelites, the deliverance and miracle was in the making and about to come to place. As we consider this story and apply it to our lives, we can rest assured, hard times and difficult circumstances will not separate us from God’s love and concern. When times grow hard, it is so easy to leap to the conclusion that God has forgotten His promises. The story of Moses show us that when God makes a promise, He never fails to keep it. Problems and trials do no escape God’s notice or overshadow His loving concern for us. God is always aware and He cares deeply for you and I. He will do for us whatever it takes to rescue and deliver us.

8/7/11 – The life and times of Moses :Part 1
As we embark on this Study of the life and times of Moses, my hope and desire is that we begin, in our own lives, to make it our goal and desire to become a follower and leader for God like Moses became. As we examine his life and the circumstances he faced, may we learn from both his failures and his victories. This great man is not so hard to relate to, he faced many of the same challenges and struggles that we face in our lives. As we study his life, we will see that in spite of his sins and shortcomings, Moses was used by God in great ways to fulfill the sovereign purpose and plan of God. By God’s matchless grace and power and His perfect timing, Moses was able to accomplish some pretty amazing and remarkable things. God is still looking for men, women, and children who will believe in Him and open themselves up to the possibility of becoming a mighty tool in His hand. There are Moses-es in our midst that God wishes to do some amazing things through.
