5/22/11 – Are you ready for the rapture?
Much has been written about the rapture of the church. These past few years, there have been many movies and books produced regarding the end of the world and end-time events. Many people today believe that Jesus truly is coming again; a Gallup poll was taken and it was found that over half of Americans believe in the Bible’s teaching of end-time events. It makes one wonder, if that many people believe that Jesus is coming again, why do we not see a greater emphasis on preparing for it? Sadly, most individuals spend more time planning for a vacation than they do planning for their eternal destiny. Jesus warned us numerous times of the need to be ready for His second coming. His return could come at any moment! May we do our best to not be left behind. We will be eternally grateful we did.

5/15/11 – A Proper Focus
A fascinating truth of human nature is that our focus and perspective determines our reality; how we often feel isn’t determined by our actual experiences and conditions. How we feel is more often determined by our subjective focus. In other words, what’s going on inside of us. Our internal attitudes are much more important than our external circumstances. There is a universal principle that flows through every race, color, and sex of people – we as humans tend to see and experience what we are looking for. In the midst of this, there are two types of people – complainers and worshippers. Complainers always find something to complain about and worshippers can always find something to praise God about. A worshipper makes a conscience decision to look for something to praise God about, even in the direst circumstances. What kind of person are you? What is it you are focusing on? Maybe you need to zoom out and get a clearer and greater perspective in order to see the positive in your life. May we choose to take our eyes and minds off the external circumstances of life and begin to focus on the goodness and grace of God. When we do that, we stop focusing on what’s wrong with everything and start to focus on what is right with God.

5/8/11 – The image of a Christ-like mom
The number one quality found in every good mom and one we should all be thankful for, is the quality of humility. This is a spirit of servant-hood; an attitude of putting others before oneself. Motherhood demands and requires it. Show me a good mom and I will show you a life and spirit of humility. I believe that motherhood is the best example of humility; it is perhaps the purest and most selfless service there is on this earth. Mothers are a living example of Jesus in their acts of selfless service each and every day. They sacrifice their wants and needs for the wants and needs of their families. They regularly place others before themselves. Our moms deserve to be honored not only on Mother’s Day, but every day of the year.

5/1/11 – Misconceptions of hell
People have got a serious misconception of hell. Though most believe it to be a less than desirable destination, they also believe it to be a place where they will spend the rest of their existence living any way they desire. How wrong they are! Misconceptions of hell have made many apathetic toward the urgency of leading ourselves and others from this terrible place. This life gives to each of us the opportunity to make out eternal reservation in heaven or hell. Where physical death finds us, eternity will keep us. Jesus told us in Matthew 25:41 that hell was created for the devil and the angels that fell with him. Human beings, God’s creation, were never meant to see or experience hell. Sadly, many will end up there due to the choices and decisions they are presently making in this life. They, like the devil, have chosen to reject the person of God and have, therefore, rejected the only remedy for sin that God has provided to mankind. If anyone lives like there is no hell and that the Bible’s teachings are wrong, then for eternity’s sake, they better be right!
