10/18/09 – Facing the Fear of Failure

We live in a world that has very little time for losers. We as a society worship winners and achievers. Failure by most is considered the unpardonable sin! This emphasis on success and accomplishment puts enormous amounts of stress on people.  Many will do anything in order to succeed.

God’s word is clear that there is no perfect person upon this earth and that all have failed at one time or another. Failure is Universal and is a part of life.

What we do with our failures is much more important than the failure itself. The successful, are those who choose to get up after they have fallen and make a clear decision to learn from it and move on. They simply don’t quit when they blow it or mess up.

The Bible is full of stories of those who once were failures who later with God’s help rose above them and were used greatly! This can be true of our lives as well. Don’t allow the fear of failure keep you from experiencing all that God has for you!

10/11/09 – The Fear of the Future

People have a great amount of fear in their lives. It is a bully that scares, terrorizes and intimidates all those it can!  When this bully of fear moves into our lives, everything else moves out. Fear and happiness cannot dwell in the same place. Fear and vision cannot live together. Fear and confidence cannot co-exist. Fear deadens the soul and steals from us the life that God intends for us.

Far too many of us have given way too much ground and leniency to this bully! What if we could live fearless lives?  What if we could face up to it and confront it rather than run from it? What if we were to use the sword of the spirit and the shield of faith to cause this bully to flee from our lives? The word of God has clearly given to us the instructions and promises which can free us from this burden of fear. May we put our trust and hopes in the one who is faithful. May we choose to live in faith and anticipation of God’s provision and protection. Let’s turn to the one who can help us overcome our fears

10/04/09 – The Gift of Remembrance

Have you ever considered or dwelt on the ability to remember things? Have you recognized what a powerful gift it?  It has the power to turn on all types of emotions and bring about differing actions and attitudes into our lives and the lives of others. We must be very careful as to what we will choose to allow into our minds and spirits. We must make an effort to think on those things which will bless rather than curse. May we learn from the stories, principles, and promises of God’s word and use those memories and thoughts to become all God wishes for us to become.

9/27/09 – Ever Faithful

David lived and walked with God for many years and at the end of his life he considered the faithfulness of God. He could say with all certainty and confidence, that God is faithful to the faithful!  He had experienced God’s provision and protection many times over the years. He knew of the great things God had done for his ancestors. Through it all, his testimony was that he had never seen God fail him or any other righteous before him. May we understand this truth in our lives as well. If our hearts are right with God, this promise and truth is for you and I just as it was for David. May we seek and strive after God and allow his faithfulness to be experienced in our lives.

New Wednesday Evening Bible Study

Be sure to join us for the Adult Class on Wednesday Evenings in October for a new DVD series from Erwin McManus, best selling author of Uprising and the Barbarian Way.  The class will be a combination of a DVD session and group discussion.

One of the following topics will be discussed each night:

advance  Go Unless You Get a No  – Much of our religious language has been focused on the “don’ts” rather than the “do’s”. In the same way we act as if the primary word from God is “stop” when it is actually “go”. Opportunities are lost because many times when we think we are waiting on God, He is waiting on us.

impact  Leave a Mark  – Impact - a forcible contact between two or more things. This is an accurate description of how men and women are used by God to shape the course of human history. Whenever God is doing a new thing, He does it through people. But, we can often feel alone. We may feel alone around others, but we’re never alone when it comes to God.

choices  Choose To Live  – The most spiritual activity you will engage in today is making choices. Our choices either move us toward God and all the fulfillment that comes in Him or steer us away from Him to a life of shame and fear.

dreams  Seize Your Divine Moments  – We all have dreams. Why do some people realize their dreams and advance forward while others  watch timidly fro a distance and hope for a break? There is a direct relationship between passion and initiative. But what about making sure that the things we do, and the dreams we dream, are truly God’s will? The reality is – when we are passionate about God, we can trust our passions.

Our Wednesday Evening Activities begin at 7:00pm; the Adult Class meets in the Sanctuary.
