7/19/09 – Living with Expectancy

A dynamic truth regarding our spiritual lives is this, after we have prayed, what we do next reveals what we  really believe about God and the promises of his word. Every morning when David prayed, he did not get up off his knees and go about his day as if he had not prayed! The bible says that he waited in expectation of how God would answer his prayers. That’s the difference between just saying a ritual prayer or truly saying a relationship prayer. If we fail to recognize this truth, we will fail to make the connection between the events of our day and the things we have prayed for . We will be oblivious to God’s activity and involvement in our lives. When we pray, do we pray with a true desire to experience a powerful, all mighty and all knowing God? Do we pray and live then in faith that God will deliver? May we desire and go beyond vague and safe prayers. May our prayer life be an exciting adventure of faith lived all day long!

We all experience times of victory and times of defeat. Times of celebration and times of mourning. As one studies the psalm’s,  it is very easy to relate to the words you are reading.  They come straight from the hearts and souls of those who wrote them. They are the prayers, praises and songs written and given in response to  the everyday occurrences taking place in the lives and nation of the Hebrew people. They give to us an example of what it truly means to love and serve God in all situations and how to continue to put our hope and trust in him in spite of our circumstances. They demonstrate to us how to live lives of true worship and how to live in a way that brings God glory and honor. The psalm’s are a window as to how each of us may live a more blessed life.
